A car that is nearly a decade old is going to need some repairs. To help save some extra cash on auto repairs, follow these tips.

  • Do It Yourself ? Why go to the mechanic? There are plenty of repairs that you can do on your own. With the right tools and equipment, you can change your car?s oil and even replace its brakes. If you?re a little inexperienced, get a repair manual for your car.
  • Buy Parts Online ? When you go to a mechanic, they mark up the price of parts. Go online and find the parts cheaper. You?d be amazed at what you find. There are many websites that sell Toyota OEM parts. Just be sure to compare prices.
  • Get Quotes ? Don?t just settle on the first repair shop. Look around. Take your car to several mechanics and see which one gives you the best prices. You may even be able to get them to give you a little discount.
  • Save for Rainy Days ? If you drive an older car, set a little money aside out of each paycheck for repairs. That way you won?t have to put any unexpected auto repairs on your credit card. You?ll save a ton of money on interest.
